School of Biological Sciences

Construction on the £39 million School of Biological Sciences began in June 2016.

The new School, being built at Chlorine Gardens, will offer state-of-the art teaching and research facilities for its 750 students and 170 staff, who will tackle some of the world’s most pressing issues.

A new home for computer science

At 3,000m2, with a glazed, front elevation, the new BCB integrates teaching and research, delivering a stimulating environment for staff and students and group and project work.

Ongoing investment across the University is continually improving teaching space.

Improving our facilities across the campus enhances the student experience to allow standard teaching, interactive group work, and other informal teaching in bright and stimulating environments. All spaces have IT access points and WiFi.

Fully Connected with the WiFi Project

The Wireless Campus Project, a £1.93m investment, brings a state-of-the-art wireless service to all areas of the Queen’s campus.

It enables users to have anytime, anywhere access to the resources they need and to work in a fully-flexible 21st century environment.

Award-winning Shelf Service at the McClay Library

The McClay Library is the result of a £50m investment and won The Society of College, National and University Libraries (SCONUL) Award in 2013.

Designed with students in mind, the Library blends the best features of a traditional library with the latest technology and is both a centre for learning and a place to collaborate. With 2,200 reader seats in a mixture of formal and informal spaces, the Library offers places for quiet study and significant provision for group work.

The William J Clinton Leadership Institute at Riddel Hall brings leading academics and industry experts together delivering high-end leadership programmes.

Riddel Hall is located in a unique eleven acre parkland site in South Belfast. This exceptional facility is the perfect location for business leaders to come together and learn.

Wellcome-Wolffson building

The Institute for Experimental Medicine

An interdisciplinary research facility par excellence, at the cutting edge.

In keeping with the ongoing development of our Health Sciences facilities, the new Wellcome-Wolfson Building (Institute for Experimental Medicine) is located next to the Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology (CCRCB) and designed to enhance its internationally recognised excellence in education and research.

Extraordinary possibilities at the Physics Building

The Victorian red-brick Physics building's refurbishment will bring it up-to-date.

This brings together the School of Mathematics and Physics and a Teaching Centre, creating a single space for MAP students and teachers, with the iconic Lanyon Building as backdrop.
