1.1Mandatory Tuition Fee Deposits for Postgraduate Taught Courses

If you have met all the course entry requirements and you have received an unconditional offer of a place to study on a postgraduate taught degree, you should note that we require applicants to pay a minimum total deposit* of between £2,500 and £6,000 towards their tuition fees, before a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) for visa/immigration purposes can be issued. Details of the exact amount required will be communicated to each applicant following the issue of an offer.  For those applicants who require a CAS, this deposit must be paid before a CAS can be issued.  Please ensure that you have provided all the necessary documentation.

* Applicants for postgraduate taught programmes offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, and some courses in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences will be required to pay a deposit of £1000) to secure a place on the course, and this will be included as a formal condition of your offer - please see section above.  The course deposit must be paid by the date specified in the offer letter, otherwise the application will be withdrawn.

CAS details will not be issued earlier than six months before the start of your degree programme.

After you pay a deposit towards your fees, you will be issued with a receipt which you should present the receipt with your documents when you apply for your student entry visa to the UK. This information will also be included in your CAS Statement – see leaflet ‘Studying at Queen’s: Study Visa Options’ enclosed with your offer letter.

1.2 This condition of offer is in addition to any academic or English language requirements.

1.3 If you do not pay the required deposit by the date specified in your offer letter, then your application will be withdrawn.

However, in some instances, it may be possible to make a late deposit payment. Please contact askeps@qub.ac.uk if you would like to reinstate your application so that we can confirm availability on your course.

1.4 Deposits are non-refundable

Except in cases where the applicant fails to meet the academic or English language requirements for entry. Individual cases may be considered in extenuating circumstances.

1.5 Deposit Transfers

Deposits can only be transferred in cases where the applicant fails to meet the academic or English language requirements of one course but wishes to transfer to another course in the Faculty, where they do meet the entry requirements, subject to a place being available. Please contact the Faculty Student Recruitment Hub (askeps@qub.ac.uk) to discuss your options.

1.6 Applicants with Secured Funding

Applicants who have secured funding for the full tuition fee amount from e.g. employer or government sponsorship (excluding Postgraduate Tuition Fee Loans) will not be required to pay the tuition fee deposit provided that satisfactory evidence of the award of funding is made available to the University in advance of the applicable tuition fee deposit deadline.
