Pro-Chancellors are appointed by Senate, the University’s Governing Body, for an initial period of four years and are eligible for re-appointment for one further period of four years.  Pro-Chancellors play an essential role in the governance of the University, chairing a number of core Committees, including Senate itself.  They are also important ambassadors for the University and participate in key ceremonial events throughout the academic year, including graduation.

There are currently two Pro-Chancellors – Mr Stephen Prenter and Dr Stephen Kingon. Stephen Prenter is due to stand down as Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Senate on 31 July 2020 and, to facilitate effective succession planning, steps have been initiated to appoint a third Pro-Chancellor with effect from 1 January 2020.

In accordance with University Regulations, nominations are now being invited for consideration by the Special Committee established to oversee this process.

All nominations should be submitted to the Registrar's Office, under confidential cover, by no later than 4.00pm on Monday, 11 November 2019, using the Nomination Form.

Please note: The names of the proposers of nominees will not be disclosed to the Special Committee.
