This project, funded by a British Academy Networks Grant, aims to test the predictions of the theory of modes of religiosity and to improve the theory in the light of evidence gathered. The central idea is that the variable ways in which rituals are remembered and interpreted have specifiable effects on the organization and transmission of religious ideas and the scale and structure of religious traditions. |
