FORMER IRISH WOMEN MEMBERS OF THE EUROPEAN
PARLIAMENT
This page lists all former Irish women members
of the European Parliament since direct elections were first held in 1979,
and gives a breakdown by party (Table 2) and in
total (Table 3) of the Irish MEPs returned at each
election. Between 1957 and 1979 the Parliamentary Assembly or Parliament
(as it was called from 1962) was constituted of delegates from national
parliaments chosen by their national parties. Ireland had ten seats between
1973 and 1979 but no women were among the delegates nominated.
