WOMEN MINISTERS IN THE IRISH GOVERNMENT This page lists all current women members of the Irish government as at March 2011. Offices of cabinet rank are marked with a †. There are currently two women in Enda Kenny's cabinet out of a total of fifteen. Also out of a total of fifteen, there are currently four women Ministers of State, which are junior ministers of non-cabinet rank. This equates to just 27%. * During the 28th government under Brian Cowen, the number of Ministers
of State was reduced from 20 to 15 for cost cutting reasons due to the
economic crisis. After 22 April 2009, there were still two women Ministers
of State but as the overall number had been reduced to 15 the % of women
increased to 13% |
