Emotions and Human Mobility Conference Series

In 2006, Maruška Svašek (School of History and Anthropology, Queens University Belfast) received AHRC funding from the Diasporas, Migration and Identities programme (http://www.diasporas.ac.uk/research.htm). Svašek used her grant to organise three interdisciplinary conferences on the theme of Emotions and Human Mobility. The aim was to  examine the dynamics of emotional processes which underly migration and the formation of diasporic identities. The conferences were held in 2006 and 2007 and explored particular themes, namely

(1) Transnational familes, emotions and belonging (11-12 May 2006)
(2) Emotional interaction: migrants and local communities (17-18 Nov. 2006)

(3) Migrant artefacts, art and emotional agency (9-10 Feb. 2007)
