Love project

IMAGES OF LOVE

For this teaching project anthropology students at Queens University Belfast, doing the module 'Love, Hate and Beyond. Emotions, Culture, Practice' and social science students MOP Vaishnav College for Women in Chennai, doing a module on research methodology in the Spring semester of 2008, were asked to collect visual images of ‘love’. The Indian students looked for media representations. The students in Belfast found images on the Internet or made photographs of love. Both collections of images were discussed in Chennai and Belfast, sparking debates about the universality/cultural specificity of forms of human attachment in India and Northern Ireland .
