A Compositional Cartographic Sequence
Michael Mayhew in collaboration with Paul Stapleton and Liz Greene
Liminal Lands was arrived out of an intense process based on the praxis of Michael Mayhew. This is a praxis based on living, searching, gathering and collecting from the lives and environments one lives within.
Mayhew was invited to question the SARC Lab as place, structure, intention and purpose.
He chose to take people on a journey.
A line was chosen, a mark on a map, a scar on the land, a border, a threshold between two worlds, between two points of the compass, a diving line, a ideational site, somewhere that matters within separation and seclusion, a place of rites between the sacred and sceptical, it is somewhere yet nowhere enabling us to get lost and to be found removing ourselves from the mundane.
We went in search for Liminal Lands knowing it could be nothing and everything....
....we returned to SARC with questions held within suspension, within architecture of interrogation.
