The Road Not Taken

What if there was someone waking up somewhere else in the world who was just like you?
Who would they be and what would they be doing?
What life would you be waking up to if you had taken a different path somewhere along the way?
THE ROAD NOT TAKEN was created during an intensive hothouse residency with over 26 Queen's students with a Belfast-based director from Scotland, an Australian lens-based artist from London, a Northern Irish Designer recently returned from living in the States, an Irish Filmmaker and an English choreographer based in Castlerock.
Over the Christmas holidays, the company - many of whom had never met before - were given the title of the piece and asked to bring in a made or found photograph in response.
13 days of games, dance classes, photographic tasks, filming, voicework, brainstorming, devising, developing, skipping and jumping later, the show had been created.
The final show was a visual poem about duality and serendipity; about choice, chance and happenstance. The company included students from 1st year to MA level to recent graduates and involved students studying Drama, Film and Imaging, Ethnomusicology, Creative Writing, Music and English.
THE ROAD NOT TAKEN played to capacity audiences and material from it went on to form the basis of an MA project and an exhibition in Australia.
