University Travel Scholarships

There are three seperate awards available under the University Travel Scholarships.  Please click on each one below for further information:

Emily Sarah Montgomery Travel Scholarship

A number of Emily Sarah Montgomery Travel Scholarships are available for award in 2014-15.  The Scholarships are open to postgraduate students who are enrolled as students for approved courses of study in this University and who intend to travel outside Ireland to undertake a period of research or further education.  The award will include full or part payment of the travel and a contribution towards subsistence, up to a maximum award of £650.  The Emily Sarah Montgomery Travel Scholarship is tenable with any other award (other than a travelling scholarship or travel grant) of this or any other University.   

Sir Thomas Dixon Travel Scholarship

A number of Sir Thomas Dixon Travel Scholarships are available for award in 2014-15. The Scholarships are open to undergraduate or postgraduate students of Queen’s University intending to travel outside the British Isles in order to pursue cultural activities abroad.  The award may include full or part payment of the travel and a contribution towards subsistence, up to a maximum award of £600.

The First Trust Travel Scholarship

One First Trust Travel Scholarship is available for 2014-15.  The Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate or postgraduate student who intends to travel outside the British Isles in order to extend his or her educational experience.  The award will include full or part payment of the travel and a contribution towards subsistence, up to a maximum award of £650.  The First Trust Travel Scholarship is not tenable with any other travel scholarship or travel grant.

Please Note:  Only one First Trust award is available, so applicants are advised to apply for other awards for which they are eligible.

Application forms must be typed or word-processed and submitted in electronic format. 

Completed applications forms should be submitted by email, via your Head of School, by 4.00 pm on Thursday, 29 January 2015, to aascholarships@qub.ac.uk.

Please Note: You can still apply for a travel scholarship even if you have not received confirmation that your abstract has been accepted.  Awards will only be paid on production of travel booking confirmation/receipts. Awards are subject to funding availability.
