Admission is via the Queen’s University Admissions Office, using online application.

Entrance Qualifications:

Applicants must have a recognised professional qualification in nursing, midwifery or allied health and social care service. They shall normally hold a relevant primary Degree at 2:2 classification or above or equivalent. In line with the University’s RPL procedures, candidates who do not meet the above academic requirements will be considered on an individual basis where there is evidence of experience in a relevant area.

Additional Information for International Students: Applicants whose first language is not English are normally required to have an IELTS* score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in any component, or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University; evidence of these qualifications must be presented before an offer of admission is issued. Applicants may be accepted with a minimum of 5.5 in each component so long as they undertake a period of compulsory study with the University’s partner INTO. Examinations

• Students must pass 120 CATS points of taught modules on the programme and complete 225 hours of clinical practice to be eligible for the award of a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Professional and Clinical Practice.

• The pass mark for all taught modules is 50%.

• Students who fail one or more taught modules are permitted one further attempt to pass at the next available opportunity for a maximum mark of 50%.

• The degree will be classified in accordance with the University General Regulations, Study Regulations, Mark Scales.

To qualify for the Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Professional and Clinical Practice students must take and pass modules worth 120 CATS points and complete a 225 hours clinical practice module (0 CATS points).

Students must successfully take and pass a total of six taught modules (120 CATS points), including: one compulsory research module*; and five optional modules that may be selected from the range of modules available and a Clinical Practice module (0 CATS points).

*One compulsory research module must be taken from the two listed above (NUR7002 or NUR7010).
