Counselling Service

Life at university can be challenging at moments. While we hope your experience here at Queen’s University will be free from any major difficulties, we at the Counselling Service are here for you anytime you would like to talk in a confidential, non-judgmental and supportive environment.

Counselling will give you the time and space to explore issues which are having an impact on your ability to study successfully, such as adjusting to University life, personal growth, bereavement, relationships, family concerns, anxiety, and depression. While the counsellors will not be able to give you instant solutions, through the counselling process you may develop greater self understanding, and discover new strengths within yourself.

The counselling staff are all trained, experienced, and extremely committed to the work they do. The team include both Queen's staff as well as counsellors from Carecall, a local organisation the University works with to ensure we have a broad range of counselling skills available to meet student needs.

Counselling sessions are available all year round, are free to all QUB students and take place in the Student Guidance Centre. We normally offer up to six 50-minute sessions per person to ensure that everyone who requests counselling can be seen quickly. Emergency appointments are also available daily.
