Technical Services

The Research & Enterprise (R&E) Directorate co-ordinates the University's industrial support activities and is the contact point for all organisations involved in economic development. It is also responsible for developing opportunities through which academics can gain access to the business and economic development communities.

At an operational level, R&E is the 'front door' through which business can access the industrial support and knowledge base of the University. It is responsible for the referral and follow-up of technical and other enquiries to Faculties and Industrial Services such as the Northern Ireland Technology Centre, the Knowledge Transfer Centre, the Polymer Processing Research Centre and QUESTOR.

 

Areas of expertise: 

Queen’s University has a number of industry focused units which provide a wide range of support and services to business. Some examples are noted here.  The Northern Ireland Technology Centre (NITC) works with companies to improve their competitiveness through enhanced design and manufacturing.  The Polymer Processing Research Centre (PPRC) assists plastics companies to develop new products and processes. QUESTOR helps companies to address environmental issues that may adversely impact costs, performance and overall competitiveness.  The Analytical Services and Environmental Projects Unit (ASEP) offers an extensive range of analytical and testing services. KTP and Business Networks provide an excellent mechanism to transfer knowledge and expertise from Queen's University to companies to support strategic development and increased competitiveness.
