Library Stack and Lynn Building

These two key buildings became vacant following completion of the McClay library, providing an unprecedented opportunity to create a new “gateway” development at the heart of the University.
Enabling works went on site in early July for the internal strip-out of the Library Stack, following which it will undergo major redevelopment to become a prestigious new home for the School of Law. It is planned to have staff and student facilities on the upper floors and student social space on the ground floor.
A new three-storey building will link the refurbished Stack to the Peter Froggatt Centre to create a single entity. This will be complemented by a refurbished Lynn Building (one of the best examples of Ruskinian Victorian gothic in Belfast) - providing postgraduate teaching, group study and social space - and new landscaping similar to that used on the East-West link. The overall development will provide a lively student destination on the Main site.
