Report Faults/Request Repairs

There are several means of reporting faults or requests to Maintenance.

The preferred method for the reporting of defects or making requests is via Building Liaison Officers (BLOs), who have been nominated  by each School/Directorate and have access to the online fault reporting system (Planon) and to the Helpdesk. Staff should consult School Managers for details of their BLOs.

Those requesting works are asked to:

  • Facilitate access at all reasonable times to Estates staff/contractors to carry out works
  • Co-operate with Estates staff and contractors to minimise any disruption caused by works
  • Immediately report any hazards or maintenance defects
  • Ensure a safe working environment for staff and contractors
  • Indicate to Estates, before works start, if there are any budgetary limits (if the works are an additional service)
  • Provide feedback on the performance of the works and participate in customer surveys

Emergencies

Emergencies should be reported by:

  • Telephone to the Helpdesk ext 5152, followed by
  • Online request through desginated BLO

Non-routine Maintenance

Where work is of a non-routine nature, BLOs must provide project codes to have the work carried out as part of additional services.  Queries can also be discussed with the Helpdesk operator on ext 5152 or by email to estates.helpdesk@qub.ac.uk
