Students
Students are strongly encouraged to use public transport when travelling to and from the University. Students can now purchase and top-up Metro and Ulsterbus Smartlink cards at the Students' Union reception. Smartlink cards offer students a number of benefits including:
- It saves you money
- It is a safer, cash free method of payment for travel
- Lost or stolen cards canbe cancelled, which prevents fraudulent use
- Your card remains 'active' for 12 months after its first use

Discount travel cards
If you travel on public transport regularly throughout the year, why not consider an annual travel card. You can save up to 20% on bus and rail travel. The Pass Issue office at Translink, can give further information on (028) 90354074.
Staff Travel to Work Loan scheme
Furthermore, the University is offering salaried employee’s an interest free loan scheme towards the purchase of an annual travel card. A loan of up to £2000 is available to purchase a travel card for the purpose of commuting to work. The loan is repaid via 10 monthly salary deductions.
