Contract Negotiation

The contract negotiation phase will endeavour to ensure that the University's interests and obligations have been accommodated with respect to the research project. One of the main drivers will be the agreed price for conducting the research project where. Any deviation from the University's price guidelines (price matrix) that arise will require the contract negotiation phase to include potential redress to such a situation in an attempt to reconcile a price deviation with the negotiation of provisions such as greater intellectual property ownership rights, broader provision for rights of use or rights to commercialisation, etc. In this way the final contractual agreement will be approved so agreement is reached between the parties and the research project can be initiated. It is therefore imperative that the Research Support Office is in receipt of the contractual agreement at the earliest possible stage in the life of a project award.
