In the most recent SWAN awards three more AHSSBL Schools, School of Education, School of Politics, International Studies &Philosophy and School of History & Anthropology were awarded the SWAN AHSSBL Bronze award in recognition of their commitment to gender equality and career progression.
They join the School of Modern Languages and the School of Sociology, Social Policy & Social Work who were among the first AHSSBL schools in the UK to be awarded Bronze in November 2015.
This award covers Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Business and Law departments.
This update to the Athena SWAN Charter occurred in May 2015. It also includes revisions to recognise work in professional & support roles, and addresses equality for trans staff and students. The charter now not only focuses on barriers to progression that affect women, but has expanded to cover all efforts undertaken to address gender equality more broadly.
A useful workshop was held in February 2016 between the Equality Challenge Unit and QUB School of Psychology entitled "Going for Bronze, Silver and Gold - Good Practice for Athena SWAN departmental applications".
The presentation from the workshop can be viewed by clicking here.
