Academic Promotions
| Over the past 5 years: · There has been an increase in the success rate of staff who applied for promotion · In 2 out of the 5 years, i.e. 2007/2008 and 2008/2009, male academic staff experienced a higher success rate than female academic staff · In 3 out of the 5 years female academic staff experienced a higher success rate than male academic staff · A lower percentage of the eligible female academic staff applied for promotion compared to the percentage of eligible male academic staff In the 2011 / 2012 promotions round: · 10% of eligible female academic staff, and 13% of eligible male academic staff, applied for promotion · 65% of the female academic staff and 47% of the male academic staff who applied for promotion were successful · Female academic staff who applied for promotion to Senior Teaching Fellow / Senior Lecturer / Reader experienced a higher success rate than male academic staff, at 72% and 45% respectively · The success rate of female academic staff who applied for promotion to the professoriate was similar to that of male academic staff, at 50% and 53% respectively · Four female and 9 male academic staff were promoted to the professoriate
