Academic Promotions

 Over the past 5 years:

·        There has been an increase in the success rate of staff who applied for promotion

·        In 4 out of the 5 years female academic staff experienced a higher success rate than male academic staff


·        In 1 out of the 5 years, i.e 2013/2014, the success rate experienced by female and male academic staff was close

·        A lower percentage of the eligible female academic staff applied for promotion compared to the percentage of eligible male academic staff 

 

 

In the 2013 / 2014 promotions:

·        13% of eligible female academic staff, and 16% of eligible male academic staff, applied for promotion

·        45% of the female academic staff and 46% of the male academic staff who applied for promotion were successful


·     Female academic staff who applied for promotion to Senior Lecturer (Education) / Senior Lecturer / Reader experienced a higher success rate than male academic staff, at 50% and 41% respectively


·     The success rate of female academic staff who applied for promotion to the professoriate was lower than that of male academic staff, at 20% and 62% respectively

·        One female and 8 male academic staff were promoted to the professoriate
