Athena SWAN departmental Gold award
Queen’s has received its first ever Athena SWAN departmental Gold award. The School of Biological Sciences has secured the prestigious Gold award in recognition of its outstanding progress in promoting gender equality and addressing the unequal representation of women in science.
Queen’s becomes one of only three institutions in the UK to hold a departmental Gold Award and the only School of Biological Sciences to secure Gold.
The School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences has also received a Silver award, confirming Queen’s position in the UK as the university with the most departmental silver awards. Since 2011 Queen’s has been the only UK university to hold an Athena SWAN institutional Silver award.
