Information Services has recently implemented a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) service for general use. This service automatically configures the desktop computer with the correct Internet (IP) Address, as well as the correct DNS server addresses and other networking parameters necessary for successful operation on the Campus Network. These parameters are served automatically from the authoritative register maintained by Information Services.
In order to avail of this automatic and authoritative service, all that is required of the user is to register with Information Services for a connection, as above, and to enable DHCP in the local configuration of the computer. Most new PCs come with this configuration set by default. Information Services is rolling this service out to all departments in a phased manner.
