IP Address Register
A major responsibility of this licence is the Statutory Obligation to maintain a central Authoritative IP Address Register in order to account to the Global Internet Authorities, to Law Enforcement Agencies and external entities for any abuse arising out of Internet traffic emanating from the University.
The Statutory Obligation is to register the following details for each IP Address:-
- the identity of the staff member responsible for the use of the device
- the identity of the device
- the location of the device
All computers or Internet devices connecting to the University’s Private Network must register with Information Services for the allocation of an authoritative IP address. Any moves or changes must be registered promptly to keep the register up to date. To register, simply fill in a QF22 form online, or phone the IT Helpdesk for a paper copy.
