The Language Centre offers a variety of languages courses available to all students and staff of the University. Courses are also open to Queen's staff and the general public. Note: Before enrolling on a language course with us please remember to read our terms and conditions (1-page PDF).
General Language Courses: These weekly classes take place over 16 weeks, 2 hours per week. The language taught is of a practical nature.
Languages currently available are Arabic, Czech, Bengali, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hindi, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Mandarin Chinese, Greek (Modern), Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Sign Language, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

Applied Language Courses: These computer based courses are available in French, German and Spanish for Business; Practical Irish; and French, German, Italian and Spanish for Tourism. Students can study at their own pace and in their own time as well as having the opportunity to attend tutor-led sessions.

Queen's Students - Degree Plus Award: Please note that both the General (Languages - Non-Specialist) and Applied (Languages for Special Purposes) courses count towards the Degree Plus Award. Completion of a Language Centre course is formally recognised as one of the Degree Plus achievements.
