Register your Computer
All new computers or Internet devices connecting to the University’s Private Network must register with Information Services for the allocation of an authoritative IP address. This is a unique identifier for each computer that has access to the Internet. The Queen’s IP Address Range is 143.117.nnn.nnn.
Any moves or changes must be registered promptly to keep the register up to date. Therefore, even if you have been provided with a second-hand machine you must apply to have the IP address registered against your name.
To register or change an IP address complete the form QF/22 or fill in the form QF/22 online.
Information Services will phone you with your IP address within 1 working day of receiving your request.
If your place of work does not have Network points or the network points are not ‘live’ you will need to apply for the installation of network access points and/or patching of existing wall-boxes. This can also be done through the form QF/22.
Please note that the installation of new network points may take some time depending on whether the building is already networked and the current schedule of the network engineers.
