Staff must first get their staff number/staff card from Personnel. We recommend new staff visit Personnel as soon as possible. Phone extension 3044 (or 028 90973044 if phoning from outside the University) to make an appointment.
Personnel will also provide a password sheet. This will also be the password for a range of coordinated services. At present these services include:-
- Queen’s Online
- QUB Email (except accounts on departmental email servers)
- Novell Login
- QUB-issued personal ATHENS Accounts (provides access to electronic resources)
Important: It is vital you keep your password secret. It should never be given out to anyone else. Remember your password gives access to your personal details and you are responsible for any activities carried out using your accounts.
You can change your password online. You can also change your password through Queen’s Online. If you change your password make sure it is a secure password.
Passwords are the simplest form of security, but they are also the most overlooked by users. In order to make your password more secure, you should follow these guidelines.
Note: If you have forgotten your password, you can get it changed at the IT Helpdesk. For security reasons, staff who require a password must show their staff card to verify that a genuine request is being made.
