Security and Anti-Virus
It is extremely important that you protect your data:
- The business of the University depends on data which is often sensitive and must be protected from loss, corruption and improper access
- Re-entry of lost data can be painstaking and very time consuming
- Loss of data can impact upon deadlines and can have wide ranging implications
- Electronic records are increasingly becoming the only source of original data
Information Services provides advice on how to protect your PC at work and at home (including information on anti-virus software and Windows updates). Further advice is also available on security issues relating to passwords, file storage and backup, junk email (spam), pop up windows etc.
Information Services has drafted a set of security policies and users should be aware of their responsibilities. The University has a policy of monitoring Internet and other computer activity to ensure compliance with these security policies.
If you would like any further information on security-related issues then please contact the IT Helpdesk on ext 3760 or email advisory@qub.ac.uk.
