SharePoint
What is SharePoint? SharePoint provides an online environment, where staff can easily find and share information with colleagues in their own School/Directorate, with colleagues across the whole University, as well as with colleagues outside the University, for example External Examiners, those involved in Research Clusters etc.
SharePoint continues to be rolled out across the University. All Schools and nearly all Directorates have their own SharePoint site and all staff and students in the University are using SharePoint, via Queen's Online.
How do I find out more about SharePoint?
Over the past number of months, the SharePoint Team have been contacting and visiting Schools and Directorates to demonstrate SharePoint. If you would like to have a demonstration of SharePoint or simply a quick chat about SharePoint, email the SharePoint Team at sharepoint@qub.ac.uk
What training and support is available for staff using SharePoint?
There are 3 SharePoint courses for staff:
- Working with SharePoint (for Site Administrators) - Normally there are 2/3 Administrators per School/Directorate SharePoint site. The Site Administrators are responsible for their own sites i.e. they have full control of their own sites.
- Working with SharePoint (for Site Contributors) - The majority of staff within Queen's are Site Contributors.
- Using your SharePoint My Site (New Course) - My Site is your own personal site and is completely separate from the School/Directorate SharePoint sites. All staff have access to My Site.
These courses are usually delivered every 3/4 weeks and are available to book via the Training Courses application in Queen's Online. Each of these courses last 3 hours and normally take place within The McClay Library. In-house training courses can also be delivered to meet the specific needs of staff. There is also a SharePoint Training site, which provides lots of support for a SharePoint user. This comprehensive site provides access to a range of materials, including step-by-step training manuals, quick start guides, training videos, useful links etc.
