Computing at Queen's
At Queen's we are continually updating the computing facilities available to students.
Students have a number of different options to access the facilities; access a PC in one of the Student Computer Areas (SCAs - opening hours, locations, software); bring your own laptop and connect via wireless; borrow a laptop in The McClay Library, Biomedical and Medical Libraries and/or access a computer via Halls or Home (see Computing on the Go!)
Each PC in an SCA has Windows 7 as the operating system plus Office 2010 and a range of other software. The following link shows you where there are free PCs right now!
Every student has access to 200 Mb of filestore on the Queen's or Q: drive. The Q: drive may be accessed anywhere on the Internet via Queen's Online (click the Files QDrive link).
If you have a problem with the equipment or need help in using the PCs, see the Computer Assistant in the appropriate SCA. If the Computer Assistant is not available then you may phone the Helpdesk on ext 3760 between 9:00 and 17:00, Monday to Friday.
Please take time to read the Rules and Guidelines which apply to the use of the PCs in the SCAs.
Note: In addition to the SCAs, some University Schools provide and manage their own PC labs for students.
