The McClay Library – Automatic Logout of PCs
To ensure that PCs (and indeed traditional study spaces) are fully utilised at all times, spaces should not be left unoccupied for more than 30 minutes.
As there are significant additional PC and study spaces available this year, it should not be necessary to tie up spaces and deprive others of the opportunity to use them while you are away. In order to ensure fair access to PCs for all students in the run up to the busy pre-examination period, an automatic logout is in place on all PCs in the McClay Library. When you leave a PC for 30 minutes or more, you must save your work, logout and remove all of your belongings. If a PC is left idle for 30 minutes, then it will log out automatically and any unsaved work will be lost. Another student will be free to log in and use the space so your belongings may be at risk if they are left unattended.
This development is in response to requests from many students If you wish you to provide any feedback on Library services, please contact library@qub.ac.uk.
This change in service came into effect on Monday 11 April 2011.
