What happens if I am printing and there are more pages than I have print quota? The print job will not be carried out.

How do I change my password for logging on, accessing email, accessing exam results, Queen's online? Go into Queens' Online to change your password.
How do I access Queen's Online? Click on http://www.qol.qub.ac.uk (remember when you log in enter ads\student_number)
What is my username to log into any of the services (email, Queen's Online,...)? Your username is your student number, which is displayed on your student card (remember when you log in to Queen's Online please enter ads\student_number).
What do I do if I cannot remember my password? Either bring your student card to the Help Desk (The McClay Library - Ground Floor) or go to the Student Guidance Centre (ring 02890972726, or email sgc@qub.ac.uk).
I do not have PowerPoint at home so how can I access PowerPoint files my tutors put up on Queen's Online? Go to the Miscrosoft site http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=3834798. From there you can download PowerPoint viewer. This will allow you to download and print PowerPoint files.
How do I pay to increase my print quota? The following link explains the different methods for buying print quota.
How do I know how much print quota I have? Click on the $ symbol on the task bar on the SCC PC desktop.
Where can I find scanners in the SCCs? Scanners are available in printing/photocopying rooms in The McClay Library and in Independent Study 1 in Elmwood Learning and Teaching Centre.
Where can I print in colour? Colour printing is available in The McClay Library, Elmwood Learning and Teaching Centre, and the Medical Biology Centre (MBC).
- How much does colour printing cost?. Cost for colour output is 5 print quotas for 1 A4 page (black and white printing costs 1 print credit for 1 A4 page).
What happens to the money we pay for printing? The money is actually put back into student facilities in the SCCs.
What difference has print charging made? The amount of paper and toner used has dropped dramatically, there has been less waste.
Where is my space on the SCC network. And how much space do I have? You have 200 Mb of space and it is found on your Home Space (H: drive). From outside Queen's you can access this space via Queen's Online (look under My Files).

I am trying to send a large file by email but it is too large to send, how can I do this? Yes, you can use the QUB Dropbox to make large files available.
How can students have their say on matters pertaining to computers? Information Services carries out regular surveys - by using the data collected from the online questionnaires any student can make their opinion heard in quantitative measure as well as in free form in open ended questions. Your comments are welcomed and are acted upon. Additionally, if you wish to individually comment on the service email us at scs@qub.ac.uk.
Why isn't more money invested in the Student Computer Centres? Considerable investments of time and money are spent in improving the network hardware and cabling, number and size of servers, and maintaining software for classes and tutorials.
What about the environmental conditions in the SCCs? It is acknowledged that some SCCs suffer from particular environmental problems - especially heat levels which is the responsibility of Estates and Buildings who have been made aware of the problem.
How can I set up a page on the QUB website for our QUB society? In the first instance, you should speak to officers of the Students Union, who will arrange to get it online.
Can I use my laptop anywhere in the campus network? If you have wireless capability on your laptop you could use it in a number of locations throughout campus - follow the link on Wireless at Queens. You can also borrow laptops .
Can I use the new memory sticks? Yes, this Word document tells you more.
I have Word file created on a Macintosh, how can this be read in the SCCs? You must use a PC format diskette in the SCCs, so ensure you save your file on a Macintosh that has formatted the diskette as this type.
