Library Research Skills

Whether you're an undergraduate student undertaking research for an assignment, or a research student or staff member undertaking more extensive research, these pages are designed to help you make the best possible use of the academic research literature.

Extensive support for research is also available from Queen's subject librarians working in a number of subject teams. Please contact your subject librarian directly for library research support and advice.

Subject librarians can help you identify books, journal articles, and other literature that might be of assistance to you. Where full text resources are available online, subject librarians can help you navigate access.

In addition, the Queen's Refworks subscription enables you to create a personal database of references to books and journals. Instant bibliographies can be compiled in a variety of styles.

Key online resources have also been highlighted in our online resources by subject web pages. The Library’s QSearch service provides access to the full range of resources available.

Library guides are available on both finding information by subject and using selected Library databases.
