Online Resources
Library subscriptions mean that many academic journal articles and some e-books can be accessed in full text from Library website links. These articles and books are available to Queen's staff and students using the routes noted below.
Subscriptions to a wide range of online databases also enable you to trace details of articles and books of interest. In many cases, the full text of articles is directly available from the database, or can be found using Library 'QConnect' links.
HSC (Health Service) borrowers and AFBI (Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute) borrowers can access subscription journals and e-books through the honni (Health Service) and AFBI websites
Use QSearch to find articles, databases and web gateways.
- Use Find database to find links to useful databases of articles and books
- Use CrossSearch to select a subject area and search one or more databases
- Use My QSearch to go directly to your saved lists of articles, databases, electronic journals and searches
Use E-Journals to find the full text of journals available online.

Use E-Books to find links to key e-book services available to Queen's staff and students.
- Use the Library catalogue (QCat) to find individual e-books by title and author. An 'Electronic books' sub-catalogue can be selected to restrict searches to e-books only. Full page book content can be accessed using 'QConnect' links provided for titles under 'location'.
Early English and 18th Century titles accessible from the EEBO, ECCO and Shakespeare Collection e-book sites are not currently included in the Library catalogue.
Key databases are also listed by subject.
If you are on campus many of our journal subscriptions provide full text access through Google Scholar. However, Google Scholar full text links are not available off campus.
Additional information is available on the Electronic Resources Help page, including a Guide to Access and Authentication.
Existing lists of key databases, electronic journals and current awareness sources arranged by subject have been retained.
The Queen's Refworks subscription enables you to create a personal database of references to books and journals. Instant bibliographies can be compiled in a variety of styles.
