Books and Journals
Explore the upper three floors of the McClay Library to discover the library's extensive collections of books and journals in the arts and humanities, the social sciences, education and law, and science and engineering. Here you will find the latest textbooks and academic research. Also the volume from another century that brings the past - and its way of thinking - alive. Books occupy the shelves on the park side of the library's central atrium. Consult the subject floorguide to see which floors contain subjects of interest.
The library's journal holdings represent the consolidation and communication of decades of scholarship and scientific advance. They can be found in the specially designed mobile shelving areas on the north (College Park) side of each floor. Find the journal you wish to use and operate touch switches to open the shelves for access. Enquiry Desk staff can demonstrate the operation of the shelving - or take at look at our video on operating the mobile shelving.
The library's law and official publications collections can be found in compact shelving on the 2nd floor.
Remember too that much of the content of the library's journal collections can be found online. Ask at the Enquiry Desk on each floor if you wish to find our more about accessing research publications online.
Staff at Enquiry Desks can also help you find your way around their floor and check for books and journals that might be missing from the shelves.
