Computing, Copying and Printing

PC WorkstationsThere are plenty of ways to use the computing facilities in the McClay Library.

Queen's staff and students can log in to PC workstations on all floors of the library using their Queen's ID and password. Access office software and specialist applications to get you started creating and saving your work.

Print your documents to printers in Copy/Print rooms beside the lift entrances in the upper floors of the building and in the Extended Hours Study Room. Colour printing is available on all floors. If you wish to scan documents and extracts from publications, a desktop scanner and PC can also be found on each floor.

Online access to books, journals and other databases is possible through the Library Catalogue (QCat) and the Library QSearch service. Use QSearch Crossearch to guide you from keywords to the enormous range of research articles and full-text information available from Library subscriptions.

HSC (Health Service) and AFBI (Agric-Food and Biosciences Institute) members of the Library can also log in to the PCs in the library using their username and password to access online resources on the honni or AFBI websites. Associate Members of the Library can also log in to the workstations using their own ID and password to access a more limited range of online resources.

Wireless internet access is possible for Queen's staff and students throughout the building. Queen's uses a secure network, so you will need to downloand access software before you get connected. More on the wireless network.
Ask at the Computer Help Desk on the ground floor if you have any problems with network connections.

Computer Assistants based in the library can also help you get the best from the building's computing facilities.
