Getting Help

The Library at Queen’s is well provided with clear signs and leaflets explaining services. But don’t think you have to work everything out for yourself.

Staff at the Reception Desk can point you in the right direction when you enter the building. There’s also an Information Desk at the Borrower Services Desk, facing you as you come in to the library. Ask for help from other staff at the Borrower Services Desk too though. They’re not just there to issue books.

Each of the upper floors of the library has an Enquiry Desk which is home to one of the Library’s specialist subject support teams.

The Humanities, Special Collections and Archives team can be found on Floor 1. The Social sciences, Law and Official Publications team are on Floor 2.  The Science and Engineering team is based on Floor 3.

Staff at the Enquiry Desks can provide guidance on the complete range of online and print resources available to you. They can also put you in touch with subject librarians providing specialist information support for each of the University’s Schools.

If you are experiencing computing problems, including access to Queen’s networks and file stores, go to the Computer Help Desk in the ground floor atrium area.

A range of computer consumables is also available from the Computer Shop next to the Help Desk. These include CDs DVDs and printer accessories.

If you want help and advice on the audio-visual and media production services provided by Media Services at Queen’s, go to the Media Services Help Desk also in the ground floor atrium. The Help Desk provides assistance in addition to anyone wishing to use Language Centre facilities and acts as a reception point for the Learning and Teaching Division of Information Services.

Don’t be afraid to ask what we can do for you.
