Places to Study
The McClay Library is designed to suit the way you want to work.There are PC workstations grouped close to print rooms at the centre of each of the upper floors. Most of the library's other workdesks are arranged to exploit the light available from all sides of the library building.
Students who wish to discuss their work together can book Group Study Rooms. There are 21 in the library, most on Floors 1 - 3. Each has a PC. The larger ones have plasma screen displays and can take groups of up to 12 students.
The Extended Hours Study Room near the library entrance is open until midnight most weekday evenings. There's 24 hour opening ahead of exams.
In the C S Lewis Room, on the 1st floor, a replica wardrobe door opens to a reading room dedicated to Lewis, featuring a table map and engraved quotations.
Wireless connections are available throughout the library. You might use a wireless enabled laptop to check email or access your Queen's filestore from soft seating distributed thoughout building. Alternatively, you might use one of the library workdesks (each fitted with a power supply), or take your laptop to the vending area beside the library entrance. Laptops for use in the library building can be borrowed from the Borrower Services Desk .
