Academics
A FUSION project is initiated by a company with a particular technological need requiring the support and expertise of a third level institute. A project can run for 12-18 months. The KTP and Business Networks office at Queen’s will assist the company to identify the necessary expertise within the University and the academic support will be key to the success of the project.
FUSION creates the following opportunities for academics:
- £9,500 per year, per Associate (pro-rata)
- Work directly with industry and establish strategic links
- Publish research papers
- Apply and enhance industry-based research and teaching
- Provide ideas for undergraduate and postgraduate student projects
- Use case studies as teaching material
- Place year out and summer students
- Demonstrate and promote specialisms and expertise
- Provide guest lectures from company personnel

If you already have contact with a company you should contact Dr Mary Flynn or Lorraine Marks in the KTP and Business Networks office at Queen’s. They will be able to advise you if the company is eligible for funding through FUSION and will assist in the submission of a proposal if you and the company wish to proceed with an application.
