Queen's Impact Development Fund
To enable Queen's University researchers to better engage with external organisations and bring their work outside of the University, the Research and Enterprise Directorate has created the Impact Development Fund; a suite of funding sources which will be made available for a wide range of impact-delivering initiatives.
The following is a brief guide to the various schemes available through the Impact Development Fund, to help you decide which scheme might be most relevant to your work.
The Business Alliance Fund
The Business Alliance Fund aims to produce a sustainable relationship between the University and a non-academic partner. Funding of up to £50,000 is available, with a contribution of funding from the external organisation being an important aspect of strong proposals. Suggested activities would include inward or outward secondments, a co-funded research programme, or expanding the engagement with an organisation to new aspects of the University. Applications are reviewed three times per year.
The Collaboration Development Fund
The Collaboration Development Fund aims to be a quick, versatile fund to allow research staff to grow a collaboration with a non-academic partner. Funding of up to £5,000 is available on an open call basis. Typical projects would include pilot work for the development of collaborative research proposals, continuation of a project carried out under an Innovation Voucher or other scheme, or work to identify new partners essential to a collaboration.
The International Research Fellowship
The International Research Fellowship provides funding of up to £10,000 to allow researchers to spend time overseas at high quality research organisation. A proposal should include information on the success of the host organisation, and how the Fellowship will contribute to research at Queen's. The Fellowship operates on an open call basis.
The Proof of Principle Fund
The Proof of Principle fund provides a resource for researchers with innovative ideas to de-risk their concepts. Awards of up to £10,000 will be available carry out early testing on a concept, gain insight into the market for a concept, or to commence work with a potential partner company. The Fund operates on an open call basis, but requires a Queen's Innovation Disclosure Form to have been submitted prior to application.
