The Commercial Development Team supports the identification, management and commercialisation of the University’s intellectual property (IP) and research and development activities. We can provide guidance to academic staff on innovation, knowledge exchange and the commercialisation of their research.

What we do:
The Team is here to support University Staff in these commercialisation activities including:
- Support the development and implementation of the University’s commercialisation activities
- Support and promote innovation and its role in delivering economic impact
- Work with key stakeholders to secure funding to support research commercialisation
- Support identification, protection, investment and management of Intellectual Property within the research portfolio
- Support the development of commercial opportunities with potential to deliver economic impact
- Identifying and support appropriate commercialisation routes including licensing or Start-up
We also manage a range of research commercialisation funding programmes including
- Invest NI Proof of Concept (PoC) programme
- Impact Development Fund - Proof of Principle (PoP) scheme
- Research Council Follow on Fund (FoF)
- Knowledge Transfer Secondment (KTS) Fund
- EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA)
