How can the UK benefit from Space in Horizon 2020?

Event will be presented by the UK Space Research National Contact Point (NCP) Robert Lowson on 4 October 2013.

 

The forthcoming European Research and Innovation programme, Horizon 2020, will be worth £60bn over the next 7 years.

Major new funds will be devoted to space, and the application of space technologies to meet wider research and innovation challenges.

This is a big opportunity for UK organisations, not only those already engaged in EC-funded activity, but also those with expertise in other sectors adaptable to space activity, and those who looking for solutions that may be provided by on space related technologies.

The UK Space Agency, The  Technology Strategy Board and Northern Ireland Space Office (NISO) will host this workshop.

Agenda to be confirmed

The event will;

- share emerging understanding of the content of the Horizon 2020 space programme

- demystify the administrative aspects

- explore the role of UK structures, like the satellite applications catapult

- provide an opportunity for looking at specific partnership opportunities

The workshop will be aimed not just at operators’ familiar with EU space research, but also at those with little or no previous engagement. It is a key objective to lever in expertise that could either contribute to innovation in the space sector, or identify novel applications for space research and innovation.
