FP7 & Horizon 2020
The 7th European Framework Programme is organised into 4 main sub-programmes:
- COOPERATION funds your transnational research. The project objectives are achieved by a consortium of European partners from academia and industry;
- PEOPLE funds the training and career development of researchers through mobility and/or interaction with industry;
- IDEAS funds frontier research performed by exceptional researchers;
- CAPACITIES funds research for the benefit of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This gives you the opportunity to perform applied research for exploitation in the short or medium term.

In January 2014, the European Commission will launch the new 7-year Research Funding Programme called HORIZON 2020.
HORIZON 2020 will be organised in 3 main priorities:
- PRIORITY 1 – Excellent Science
- PRIORITY 2 – Industrial Leadership
- PRIORITY 3 – Societal Challenges
