Qatar National Research Fund Event, London
17 June 2013
The UK HE International Unit, in partnership with the British Library, hosted an event to provide an overview of the development priorities for Qatar and to outline areas for potential future collaboration between the UK and Qatar. The Qatar National Research Fund has recently announced 137 research awards worth up to US$1 million over 3 years in the 6th Round of their flagship National Priorities Research Programme, including 22 awards in partnership with UK research institutions. In parallel, the Qatar National Research Fund is working to refine the Qatar National Research Strategy on the basis of Qatar’s development priorities. Areas of focus are likely to include: the development and deployment of solar energy and production of high value hydrocarbon products; integrated mobility and road safety; integrated health management systems; desalination and water reuse; cyber security; and human capacity.
