What is 'placement'?

'Placement' is used in Pure to mark the school (or occasionally cluster) with whom a piece of content is primarily associated. All items in Pure must have 'placement' set in order to be saved in the system, so a research output co-authored by researchers in two or more schools would need to have the placement set to one school. Usually this would be the school of the primary author.

The idea behind placement is to make sure that all content is unambiguously associated with one school (or research cluster). An item may be associated with more than one school but placement must be set and may only ever refer to one specific school. It is possible to move placement to a different school if necessary.

By default, the placement of an item is assigned to the school of the person entering the item into Pure.
