Central Research Support Fund
The Central Research Support Fund (CRSF) provides financial support for research activities at Queen’s through a range of schemes aligned to the University’s strategic priorities. Please direct any queries about the fund to Karis Hewitt (k.hewitt@qub.ac.uk; x2548).
A number of the CRSF funding schemes are open to applications from Schools and Research Institutes, or to individual researchers:
Academic Staff Conference Fund
The Academic Staff Conference Fund (ASCF) offers financial support to enable research staff, particularly those at an early stage in their careers, to present their research at international conferences. Eligible researchers should apply as early as possible, and at least one month in advance of the relevant conference.
Research Support Packages
Research Support Packages provide financial support for new academic staff to develop their research careers, and to enable mentors of probationary staff to establish an agreed programme that will form the basis of future appraisals. New staff who are eligible to apply for a package will be notified by the Research Policy Office.
REF Support Fund
The REF Support Fund offers financial support to individual researchers or Schools to help optimise the University’s performance in the REF2014 and beyond. It is designed in particular to facilitate the acceleration of output publication to meet REF timescales, and to enable researchers to access support services to assist in the demonstration of impact or to enhance submission quality more generally.
Research Initiatives Fund
The Research Initiatives Fund offers financial support for ad hoc activities and initiatives which are not eligible for funding from other CRSF streams, but which nonetheless further one or more of the CRSF objectives.
International Engagement Fund
The International Engagement Fund (IEF) provides support for internationalisation activities within and across Schools and Research Institutes. Schools and Institutes are invited to apply to the Fund annually. The closing date for 2012/13 applications to the International Engagement Fund has now passed, and Schools and Institutes have been notified of the outcomes.
