About the Programmes:

Cultural immersion placements

This year we are offering you the chance to come on one of three extraordinary two-week programmes. These intensive courses have been designed to help you develop the 21st Century skills required to unlock a whole new world of possibilities.

These placements are delivered by IndoGenius and supported by UKIERI.

Study India

Immerse yourself in contemporary India and experience this incredible country's diversity, complexity and potential. Our flagship programme helps you consider India's relevance to your studies and career. Taking India’s cities and villages to be our classrooms, together we shall explore India’s culture, economy and history. Whilst with us in Delhi and Mumbai you will interact with inspirational Indians of your own age as well as academic and industry experts.

Make in India

60 Places Available

1st July to 14th July

Discover how India is seeking to innovate its way back to its historical position as the manufacturing capital of the world. Interact with Indian talent - from textiles and handicraft artisans to cutting-edge 21st century manufacturers. Our action packed itinerary includes sessions with students, workers and business leaders. You will visit the megacities of Delhi and Mumbai, vibrant Gujarat and rural Rajasthan in this unique opportunity to learn from within the local context and culture. 

Digital India

Engage with one of the world's most dynamic countries and experience first-hand how technology is changing a billion lives. You will meet end users and entrepreneurs in various contexts - from the streets of Mumbai to the fields of rural India. We will take you right into the heart of India’s thriving technology ecosystem – the city of Bangalore. Discover Indian innovation from the inside - as we uncover opportunities for young people like you and your Indian counterparts to work together and solve global challenges.

Teaching Assistantships

100 placements available

Two or six months placements starting in July or October 2016

The British Council are looking for talented and passionate individuals to be teaching assistants in India. If you are interested in teaching, this is the ideal way to develop your skills in a challenging, exciting and vibrant environment.

Placements will be across India from the major cities of Delhi and Mumbai to the states of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.Teachas a Teaching Assistant in an Indian private school, supporting the teaching of specialist subjects, running extra-curricular activities and setting up international partnerships.

In addition to developing your skills as an educator, this is a unique opportunity to understand life in contemporary India, gain invaluable international experience and ensure that you stand out in a crowded and competitive job market.

Project Children

The Project Children internship provides a once in a life-time opportunity for students to spend the summer working in the USA to further their knowledge in their chosen field of study, and gain invaluable work experience.Students at all levels are eligible, provided you are returning to study the following September. Washington Ireland

The full title of the program is the Washington-Ireland Program for Service and Leadership (WIP) and this is very much a reflection of its aspiration to create potential leaders of the future from both communities in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The Program lasts for 6-months and includes an 8-week internship in the U.S. (for example, in government, media, business and non-profit organizations) and a 30-hour period of service in your own local community, in addition to a number of other activities. Applicants must be free to commit themselves to all aspects of the Program. WIP is open to University and College students from any discipline, as well as graduates, aged between 19-25 years. Benefits include:

  • Opportunity to develop leadership and active citizenship skills
  • A unique opportunity to learn about the American political process and how Washington DC really works, as well as experiencing American culture
  • Develop a global perspective and outlook, make a difference and give something back to the community

Students for Social Impact‌Copyright Mat Wright

A social enterprise work-study programme in the UK and Canada

Apply by 15 February 2015

Students for Social Impact placements provide the opportunity for talented students to contribute to life-changing social enterprises in Canada or the UK, gain valuable overseas experience, and connect with other young leaders of the future.

You only need to cover the costs of your return flights to Canada, a small stipend will be provided to cover accomodation and subsistence costs while on your placements.
