Identify Opportunities to Gain Experience
Your time as a PhD student will offer many opportunities to gain experience which will help make you a more successful researcher as well as to develop the qualities required for making transition to the work environment and progressing your career.
These include:
- Training courses offered through the Postgraduate Skills Training Programme here at Queen's. Additional relevant training may be available through your School, a professional body or Vitae, the UK organisation for researcher development.
- Internal funding is available for Student-Led Initiatives, which could involve organising a conference, research seminar or some other appropriate training activity of benefit to research students.
- Teaching, supervising and assessing undergraduate students and involvement in School administration.
- Disseminating your research findings through papers and conference presentations or posters.
