How to Apply
Select a destination
Using the subject tables, find out which institutions Queen's has links with in your subject area. Then investigate the university you are interested in via the internet. Try to find out as much as possible about the university in advance of making application. It pays to be well-informed. Most universities have pages dedicated to incoming Erasmus students. You should look for information on admission procedures and how to apply for accommodation.
Consult the Queen's Erasmus Programme Director
The member of Queen's staff responsible for each subject area is listed by faculty here. If there is competition for a limited number of places, the Erasmus Programme Director may decide to interview interested candidates. Final decisions may be based on applicants' past academic performance, personality, and apparent commitment to the opportunity of studying abroad.
Nomination to Host University
The Erasmus Programme Director will nominate chosen students to the partner universities. He/she will make the initial contact with the potential host institution, with whom a Bilateral Agreement has been signed, to ensure that it is willing to accept the nominated student(s). Note that host institutions may have a deadline for the receipt of applications and may wish their own forms to be used. As soon as the student is accepted by the host, the Erasmus Programme Director must obtain permission from the Head of School for the placement (see the Academic Aspects section). The partner university may send you application forms for admission and accommodation. Chase these up if there seems to be a delay.
Submit Grant Application Form
Once you have been nominated, you must ensure that you complete and return an Erasmus Grant Application Form (available from the Forms you will Need section or from your Erasmus Programme Director) to your Erasmus Programme Director, who should forward it to the Exchange and Study Abroad team (Careers, Employability and Skills) at least 6 weeks before your expected date of departure. This form is for application for a grant ONLY, and does not constitute application to the partner university.
Payment of mobility grants cannot be made unless a form has been submitted.
