Education

Teaching is a popular career choice.  Students from many degree disciplines apply for the 1 year Postgraduate Certificate in Education, (PGCE), either in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, or its equivalent, the PGDE, in the Republic of Ireland. This qualifies students to teach throughout the UK and Ireland.

Competition for jobs and the PGCE  is high in Northern Ireland.  It is useful for students to try and get some work experience in a school to enhance their chances of getting onto a PGCE anywhere.

Further information on types of job can be found on Prospects Explore Types of Job and Gradireland Career Sectors.

More about different employment options with your degree can be found on Prospects Options With Your Subject.
