Taking Time Out
Apart from the financial implications work experience will help you develop employability skills, gain experience and understanding of the workplace and develop networking opportunities. Current students should check work experience opportunities including Degree Plus.
Alternatively if you intend to take time out immediately after you graduate, this can help you boost your confidence and experience, improve your CV for later applications as well as giving you the opportunity to travel and broaden your horizons. Options include:
- Relevant work experience enables you to explore various career options. Check vacancies for current opportunities.
- Voluntary work - opportunities exist locally or overseas and cover a wide range of occupations.
- Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages-TESOL placements with opportunities to work overseas exist worldwide.
- Short courses - enhance your employability by taking a short course or evening classe e.g. a foreign language or word processing and other IT skills.
